MC33771C read returns no values and has a status of ‘1’

Hi all, I am trying to read some MC33771C’s but I am having issues when using instance 1. If I use instance 0 they work fine but instance 1 returns a ‘1’ in the status feedback. What is the usual cause for this parameter out of range error?
