Wi-Fi Range issue with AR4100

Hi all,

We are using AR4100 chipset in our platform for Wi-Fi connectivity. But the range of the Wi-Fi module is very low(~10 meter only).

We have set the power mode to “Max Performance” and tested using different TX power  values(0, 15, 60 using the shell command wmiconfig –settxpower xx). But we didn’t experience any change in the Wi-Fi range. Also it seems the command to get TX power is not implemented in the driver.

We would like to know:

  1. What is the maximum range of Wi-Fi that we can obtain using the module AR4100?
  2. How to set the maximum TX power for the Wi-Fi module?
  3. How to retrieve the current TX power of the Wi-Fi module?
  4. Whether there is any document related to the Wi-Fi driver(programmers guide related to SPI commands, chipset registers etc.)?

Other Details

OS                     : MQX 4.0.2

Platform            : K60

Regards,

Akhil

Dear Sol,

Thank you for the details.

I would appreciate it very much, if you provide some more contact details(technical) to communicate with Qualcomm.

Thank you.
