Hi,
do we need any approval from Apple for programing firmware on LPC82x series for NFC application.
Thanks
Ankush
ECP is a proprietary extension developed by Apple. You need to get approval from Apple.
do we need to put any code for ECP in firmware code? if not going anything why we need approval ?
You only need to integrate the ECP code when your NFC device needs to perform mutual authentication with the Apple SE chip.
For more, I suggest you check with Apple directly.
Hey Khutwad,
Good question!
You don’t need any special approval from Apple just to program firmware on the LPC82x series for your NFC application — as long as you’re using standard NFC communication.
Now, if you plan to talk to iPhones in a normal way (like basic NFC tag reading), you’re totally fine. No permissions, no Apple paperwork.
But, if your application is trying to do something extra fancy — like deep integration with iOS, accessing special NFC features, or if you want to slap a "Made for iPhone" (MFi) badge on your product — then yes, you’d need to join Apple’s MFi Program. (It’s a bit of a process but nothing too scary.)
Bottom line:
Hope that clears it up! Let me know if you want a quick cheat sheet on what counts as "standard NFC" vs "MFi NFC." Could save you some headaches later.
Best Regards,
Ashutosh
