What is the difference between these two .c files as indicated by their icons in the Project Explorer view of MCUXpresso?

Typically the one with the "yellow" blob means that the file is being tracked i.e. the file known to and recorded by your source control repository. So generally will be seen if you are checking your files into GIT, SVN, etc.
