there are MCUXpresso Config Tools allowing to configure MK22F device. Just download the tool, create new configuration for FRDM-K22F board and go to Peripherals tool that allows to configure FTM peripheral in graphical mode. This can help you easily experiment with different setting. Then you can copy-paste generated code into your application.
MCUXpresso Config Tools are also integrated into MCUXpresso IDE. If you are using IDE, I'd recommend to start with hello_world example project and then enable Peripherals.
