Broken Text search

Hi everyone!

I have MCUXpresso IDE v11.10.0 running on Linux, and everything was working right when suddenly search all over the files broke.

The functionality is accessible from "Search" menu and "File..." submenu. This dialog appears:

When I click "Search", instead of doing the search and listing the results in the "Search" view, I find this error:

Text Search
An internal error occurred during: "File Search Worker".
'byte[] org.eclipse.core.resources.IFile.readNBytes(int)'

'byte[] org.eclipse.core.resources.IFile.readNBytes(int)'
An internal error occurred during: "File Search Worker".

I read somewhere else that might be related to Copilot4Eclipse plugin, which I also have installed.

The question is: is there any way of properly installing this plugin to avoid breaking this functionality? The rest of the IDE is working great, as before; I can build, I can debug, etc, and also the Copilot4Eclipse is working perfectly fine.

Hi All,

Big apologies for the recent issue re: Copilot4Eclipse and broken Eclipse search functionality. We have published details on the issue and released Copilot4Eclipse v1.2.2 which resolves the issue. Learn more here: https://github.com/Genuitec/Copilot4Eclipse-community/discussions/23

This indeed is very likely a problem of Copilot4Eclipse, so what if you uninstall that plugin or report the issue to the plugin owner?

After uninstalling the plugin the problem remains. The only way to recover the search functionality is reinstalling MCUXpresso and not installing Copilot4Eclipse again.

My question was more focused on if there's a way, a proper way, of installing this plugin that may not break this feature.

The thing is, for installing this plugin from the Marketplace you cannot do that straight away, as there are some dependences not resolved in MCUXpresso and you need to do some "hacks" to be able to run this plugin in MCUXpresso (not necessary in a normal Eclipse). In fact, I followed the solution posted here (https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/cant-install-darkestdark-theme-under-neon-2-nxp-mcuxpress/), but just using another update site: http://download.eclipse.org/releases/2023-06/. I'm a bit suspicious of that "hack", and then I asked if there's a better way of installing this plugin that may avoid this strange issue.

Looking at the steps or hacks to get the plugin installed, I'm not surprised that it might break things. 'DarkestDark' is infamous to me to break Eclipse basic functionalities.

Having said that, I think it would be better to see with the next MCUXpresso IDE update (new updates align with newer Eclipse), and this might get it solved.

Another option I see is using VS Code for such kind of features where Microsoft has started adding such functionalities directly.

I hope this helps,

Erich

Hi @cgarcia1

So if you don't install this plugin Copilot4Eclipse, this problem won't occur?
