For LX2080, DPMAC17 corresponds to EC1 (RGMII) and SGMII17, while DPMAC18 corresponds to EC2 (RGMII) and SGMII18.

In my current setup, DPMAC17 communicates with the PHY via RGMII, and DPMAC18 communicates with another PHY via SGMII.

The issue is that the Ethernet port corresponding to DPMAC17 works properly, yet DPMAC18 can detect the PHY normally but fails to ping? Can these two not be used compatibly?

thanks!

Could you please advise whether DPMAC17 and DPMAC18 are required to use PHYs with the identical interface type?

Hello,

Based on the architecture of the LX2080 (a member of the LX2 family like the LX2160A), DPMAC17 and DPMAC18 do not require identical interface types and can be used compatibly with RGMII and SGMII simultaneously.
The fact that DPMAC18 detects the PHY but cannot ping typically indicates a configuration mismatch between the RCW (Reset Configuration Word), the SerDes protocol, and the Software Datapath (DPL/DPC) rather than a hardware compatibility limitation.
