LS1046 XFI 10G design

I have same qustion for LS1046.

1. Based on the information you provided, it appears that the LS1046ARDB-PB reference design utilizes the XFI signal, which is then connected to a retimer (DS110DF111) and ultimately to an SFP cage. Therefore, it seems that the final connection is made to  SFP connector.

Please note that the LS1046ARDB-PB reference design should provide more detailed documentation on the specific configuration and connections for the 10G design. It is advisable to refer to the official documentation for accurate and complete information regarding the board's design and connectivity options.

I thought that the XFI signal is intended to be connected to an XFP connector.

2. If we want to perform a factory testing loopback for the XFI1 and XFI2 10G signals on the test board, how should we design it on the test version?

It is my understanding SFP is more commonly used than XFP.
Probably because of the smaller footprint for a SFP module and SFP is newer technology.
It all boils down to electrical specifications.
Since SFP modules adhere to SFI electrical specs, our XFI interface needs the retimer to convert XFI to SFI.
It may be possible the LS1046A XFI interface meets SFI specs but only the LX2 product family has been validated to meet SFI specs.

Looks like we have a board design (LS1046AQDS) that takes into account the capability to bypass the retimer, according to the documentation.

Is that board even supported any more? There is no info on your site about it, and support is being removed from U-Boot and Linux.

LS1046AQDS is for our internal development and testing use.

I checked u-boot and Linux source code in  LSDK 21.08, LS1046AQDS is supported.
