float representation compatible with IEEE ?

Hi, I wish to know whether float representation of a single precision number is compatible with IEEE standard ?
I require to connect an AVR card to LPC1343 daughter board & includes exchange of FP numbers. If the binary representation of both are same then only it would be possible. (The AVR is programmed in BASCOM, which follows IEEE).
