Using Timer INT without Hardware Pin-Out MATx

Dear Collegues,
would wou agree that it's possible to use the timer INTs without changing the corresponding I/O pins (MATx and CAPx)? I just want to use the timer interrupts internal, but keep the I/O pins as simple I/Os. (I use LPC1114, but probably behaviour is the same across all LPCs.)
