Programming and debugging seems to work, but nothing is done on the hardware

Hi.

I am having a problem with my LPC1227 board after I installed the newest Ubuntu 11.10 and LPCXpresso 4.1.0.

When I try to debug, program or erase the flash, it seems like it progresses and completes. It even stops at the breakpoints. However, it seems that nothing is done on the chip itself. I have a logic analyzer on the chip, and it shows that the old program is running, even though LPCXpresso shows that it is stopped at a breakpoint.

I have also tried to erase the flash without programming anything, and LPCXpresso doesn't report any errors. However, after power-cycling the board, the old program still runs. So it seems that it is just some simulator that is running, and not the actual board.

Any clues?

Hi,

I found the mistake. Apart from upgrading to a new Ubuntu, I also used another programmer. On that one, I had not cut the traces to the on-board LPC1227, so I was actually programming that processor instead of my own. I didn't know this was possible, but I guess the length of the debugging cable to my own board made the LPC link choose the on-board processor instead of mine.

So just to confirm - did you use your LPCXPresso board successfully before you installed Ubuntu 11.10 / LPCXpresso 4.1.0?

Anyway, please create a fresh workspace, import and build some of the examples for your board, then post the debug log generated when you try to debug...

Hi

Have you tried to erase the flash with a third software, like magicflash from NXP?, it's free, although I'm not shure whether it runs on Linux, but give it a try. Also you may check page 23 of:
