LPCXpresso with LPC-Link2 jtag

Hello everybody,

I'm using LPCXpresso (v7.0.2 on windows XP) with "LPC4088 QuickStart Board".

In order to download and debug the firmware, I'm trying to use the "LPC-Link 2" debug adapter.

I'm using the J8 connector on the "LPC-Link 2" connected to the J7 connector on the "LPC4088 QuickStart Board".

When I try do debug the project, LPCXpresso doesn't recognize the "LPC-Link 2" debugger (see attached picture).

The hardware manager shows that the "LPC-Link 2" is correctly installed.

Do you have any idea in order to fix this issue?

Dear Support,

thanks again for your help.

In the FAQ I've found the solution.

The problem was a too long USB cable between the PC and the LPC-Link2 board.

The cable is good because I normally use it with another debugger, but when I changed it with a shorter one everything started working fine.

Dear Support, thanks for the hints.

I've moved to Windows8 with the latest LPCXpresso version 7.9.0 (see attached picture LPCXpresso_1.JPG).

I'm always using lpc4088-quickstart-board with LPC-Link 2.

When I try to download and debug the software (by means "Debug 'test1' button), the "LPC based USB device" disappears from the device manager and LPCXpresso stops at 95% (see attached picture LPCXpresso_2.JPG).

Do you have any idea about this issue?

You need to soft-boot LPC-Link2 with the Redlink image. This is done automatically by LPCXpresso 7.0.2 when
- JP1 is removed
- you power-cycle LPC-Link2 after removing JP1

JP2 is supplying target power and should NOT be inserted if the target is already being supplied with power.

LPCXpresso will automatically detect the Debug Adapter. If the project has been configured to use CMSIS-DAP, you can just "Search for any enabled emulator" when prompted the configuration will be reset.

As 7.0.2 is obsolete, and we do not have Windows XP here, we will be unable to provide any further assistance on this topic.

Don't worry, but I've already tried different combination of JP1 and JP2.

Could you tell me the right combination of JP1 and JP2 on LPC-Link2 and JP3 on LPC4088 (for example JP1 removed, JP2 inserted and JP3 removed)?

About the LPCXpresso there is some setting to do?
For example I've seen that is possible to select the emulator and the debug template (see attached picture)

Hi Support,

thanks for the hint.

I'd like to use LPCXpresso 7.0.2 because of I'm using windows XP.

I've tried with JP2 removed on LPC-Link2 (see attached picture), but the result is the same.

Any other suggestion?

LPCXpresso 7.0.2 does not support CMSIS-DAP. If you must use that version of LPCXpresso, you must let it soft-boot LPC-Link2 by removing J2.
