Hi

I am new to this forum, this is my first post.

I am trying to use the Lpc1115 and Lpc1769 with the Experiment kit using Win XP.

I have severe problems when using Lpc Link with win XP.
Every time I plug any of my Lpcxpresso boards in,  the upload fails.
The boards are ok, they work on my Laptop using Win7 and Ubuntu.

When I plug the board in it enumerates as USB Device with DFU capabilities.
When I start debugging I get the error:
'Error received while booting LPC-Link: Timeout waiting for LPC-Link
initialization: Timeout waiting for LPC-Link drivers to load.'

I also tried the Code Red scripts to initialize the bord from command line but
it fails to load the debug software to Lpc Link.

My workaround is to initialize the board on win7 and use an external power source to upload the firmware to Lpc Link. Then they also work with Xp.
But to be honest I hate this, what can I do to accomplish the firmware upload with Xp. What could be the problem ?

Any Hints ?

Cheers Michael

Edit: I am using the latest Ide V5_2_4_2122

Dear CodeRedSupport

Thank you very much for your help!

I found two solutions:

1.) I bought the lpc link 2 which works perfect with my "old" usb bus.
2.) Since I have a portable usb 3.0 hd, I bought a pci-express usb 3.0 card (10$ incl. s&h!, unbelievable,..). I plugged in the lpc link and finally it works.

Thank you very much for the suggestion to buy another usb controller !
I like the lpc link2 but I don't want to cut the lpc link 1 from all my other Lpc Xpresso boards.

Cheers
Michael

You are confused. In DFU:
"Download" means you can download firmware to the device
"Upload" means you can read the firmware from the device

LPC-Link is configured to disallow DFU Upload so what you are seeing is perfectly correct.

As you are able to boot the device from other PCs it is obviously a problem with your XP PC. We have not heard of any similar reports, so it seems to be unique to your PC.

The problem is most likely to be hardware (a problem with the USB ports on your PC) but it is possible that there is a problem with the driver installation. You could try deleting the DFU driver in Windows XP and reinstalling it. If that doesn't work the only other thing I can suggest is to try a 3rd party USB adapter (PCI or PC Card, whatever your hardware has available).

Sorry, but I can't think of anything else you could try.

Hi

I must confess I am desperate, there is no chance to connect to LpcLink.
I tried Dfuapp and my device is marked as non writeable (see att. screenshot).

Any ideas ?

Hi

I still cannot activate the Lpc Link the log files points out the following error:

DFU Get Status successful
---> DFUStatus: Received DFU_DNLOAD with wLength = 0, but device does not think it has all of the data yet.
---> DFUState: An error has occurred. Awaiting the DFU_CLRSTATUS request.
DFU Clear Status successful
Close Device

Hi

Thank you for the link, I did not find that specific one.

Unfortunatley I have a upload problem,I powered the board externally uploaded the code plugged/unplugged  unfortunately no debugging mode , but since I  have Usb sleeping mode troubles with my soundcard I am glad you showed me this link anyhow.

It is a pity, because I love to play with this boards, it is like developing software for your pc.

Cheers

Have you tried using the other USB ports on your XP box? And have you tried connecting via an external powered hub (directly from the XP box - not via your Win7 machine).

And did you check this out...

Hi R2D2

Of course I searched the Internet and this forum for help and I also found many similar threads, but unfortunately  I could not solve the problem.

I did found some info though which helped me find my workaround.
But I don't want to start my laptop always just to initialize  the Lpc Link,...

Cheers

There a several threads about timeout. Did you try a forum search already?

Did you try to change timeout settings? Is it a PC or Laptop? Are you running a Firewall / Anti-virus software?
