Hi,
I installed LPCexpresso
(Version: LPCXpresso v3.4.6 [Build 199] [11/08/2010] )
on WindowsXP SP3 machine,
and build example "LPCXpresso1768_consoleprint",
then try to start debug.

But dialog says,

"License restriction: Flash image too large for this license."

and can't run it.

but this sample's code size is at most 12K.

>rm-none-eabi-size LPCXpresso1768_consoleprint.axf; # arm-none-eabi-objcopy
-O >binary LPCXpresso1768_consoleprint.axf LPCXpresso1768_consoleprint.bin ;
>checksum -d LPCXpresso1768_consoleprint.bin;
>?? text????data???? bss???? dec???? hex filename
>??10436???? 516???? 896?? 11848????2e48 LPCXpresso1768_consoleprint.axf

"128k limit" means axf file size's limit?

IDE's

Help > Product Activation > Display license type..   Dialog says,
-----------------------
License type : FULL
Debug limit:128K
Activation Code:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

A FULL Copy of LPCexpresso may be used for production.

"Firefox can't open www.%u.com"

I'll try again without external browser.

Second try opened the log in page.

Third try got to the "request activation code" page.

Waiting for code to see if that fixes it.

As a 1st step, I'd suggest reactivating - getting a new serial number and then request a new activation code and enter it. If that doesn't solve the problem, please provide
- host platform
- tools version
- the license diagnostic file
- the license files themselves

I just got that error with a semihosting project, just the default file that the wizard creates.

Debug files attached as requested.

edit:
file didn't attach, trying again...

it didn't like the file name, so I added ".zip" to the end so it would upload it.  You may have to remove the .zip to decompress it, maybe not (most zip programs are pretty smart).

I had the same issue as the original poster.
Adding c:\windows\system32 to my system path solved the issue.

(Windows 7 Home Premium - 64 bit, SP1)

thanks,

Andy

Thanks to TheFallGuy for helping you track down this problem.

LPCXpresso internally adds its own directories to the PATH, but it does rely on Windows passing the right paths in, to start with. Looks like Nvidia have a serious bug in their drivers that is causing this problem.

Wow. Really really appreciate you pointing me there !!!!
That is exactly the problem with my T420 machine ! Auto update of the driver indicates that my driver is already the latest.
Verified that indeed my other application (xplorer2) give PATH as reported in the links you gave, i.e. only pointing to NV folder! How come? ! This is shocking.
But how come lpcxpresso still manage to its necessary folders in the PATH?
After I disabled the driver at the device manager, that problem disappears. The workaround (which does not make sense) is no longer necessary.
Thank you so much.

I bet you have an NVIDIA graphics card. A quick search for "C:\Windows\system32\NV" found these, which sound related to your problem:

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=217920

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/path-variable-shows-only...

You might also try the search yourself.

Thanks for point out what to try. Strangely it only contains paths to folders for lpcxpresso + "C:\Windows\system32\NV" as shown below and ipconfig does not work.

C:\nxp\LPCXpresso_4.1.5_219\lpcxpresso\bin;C:\nxp\LPCXpresso_4.1.5_219\lpcxpresso\msys\bin;C:\nxp\LPCXpresso_4.1.5_219\lpcxpresso\tools\bin;C:/nxp/LPCXpresso_4.1.5_219/lpcxpresso/jre/bin/client;C:/nxp/LPCXpresso_4.1.5_219/lpcxpresso/jre/bin;C:/nxp/LPCXpresso_4.1.5_219/lpcxpresso/jre/lib/i386;C:\Windows\system32\NV;.;;C:\nxp\LPCXpresso_4.1.5_219\lpcxpresso;

There are many many other software installed in my machine and they need to be in the path too. However their path are not shown at all. This must explain my previous problem encountered too. Wandering what could be the reason and how to rectify it.

Just trying to move beyond the 8K limitation using "work around".
1. I start windows cmd.exe normally. Copy c:\windows\system32\ipconfig.exe and cscript.exe to c:\windows\system32\nv
Tried again. Still did not work.
2. Start the cmd from lpcxpresso by CTRL-Click the project name at bottom right. Strangely the 2 files copied do not appear in c:\windows\system32\nv . No wander it still did not work. What happen to what I copied??? I can see it listed in windows explorer !
3. Within the cmd started from lpcxpresso, I re-copy c:\windows\system32\ipconfig.exe and cscript.exe to c:\windows\system32\nv. Strangely it never prompt about overwriting files .... (Again what happen to what I copied earlier ???)
Wonderful it works now !
Must admit that I am not quite sure what is going on. A mystery. It must be the 64-bit windows thing ? But it works now and I can move on with this work-around.
Thanks for the help.

Try this:
- start LPCXpresso
- create a project
- On the Project name in the bottom right corner of the IDE, Press Ctrl at the same time as clicking the mouse. This opens a command prompt, using the same settings as used by the IDE
- in the command prompt, type echo %PATH%
- in the command prompt, type ipconfig

This will show the PATH used by LPCXpresso, and also whether you can see ipconfig. Post the output from the commands

My machine "system variable" "path" already contains "%SystemRoot%\system32". Anyway, I added in "c:\windows\system32\".

Did the same for the "PATH" for user variable.
It has the same symptom.

Reboot the system. Still the same.

Uninstalled lpcxpresso. Reinstall. Reboot.
When I run the new install, the workspace is still intact and reports 128K limit.
Unfortunately, the problem persists.

Ever had the same problem with my 64-bit windows when I ran executable from within an editor. It refused to pickup the executable file from the path. I had to provide absolute full path name of the exe file. I did not have such problem with 32-bit windows. Not sure if this is the same problem.

Make sure windows\system32 is on you *systems* path. Being on your users path is no good, as you are not starting LPCXpresso from your command prompt.

I am running 64-bit windows 7.
In cmd.exe, I can run ipconfig.exe and cscript.exe with no problem. That means that they are in the system path.

However when I run "crt_emu_cm3_nxp -info-license", it shows driver 4.0 but reports that:
'ipconfig.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, ...
'cscript.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, ...

Looks like the crt_emu_cm3_nxp could not run the 2 windows 7 commands.

I could not find a solution. Must I downgrade to 32-bit windows?

Looking at the license diagnostic, we suspect an issue on your machine related to "cscript.exe". We need to be able to run "cmd.exe" and "cscript.exe" (which is the  Microsoft Windows Scripting Host). Open a command window by enter "cmd"  in the Windows Start menu, and check that cscript is runnable on your  system.

I also suggest that you try activating again  (even though you have done it before):
1. Create a new Serial number and Activate
2.When you get the serial number, Enter Activation code

Make sure that when doing this, you ensure that you follow exactly the instructions in section 3.3 of the Getting Started Guide.

Regards,

Hi.
I have the same problem: License type: FULL Debug limit: 128k, but LPCXpresso v4.0.5 [Build 123] sends message:"License restriction: Flash image too large for this license."
I have done http://support.code-red-tech.com/CodeRedWiki/LPCXLicenseDiag.

Hi,

It looks like the problem is as described in the FAQ entry. The debug driver is unable to run the (the required functions of) cscript.exe. Either your firewall/av software is blocking the debug driver, or your system privileges are preventing it from running. These need to be fixed by your sysadmins.

My instalation ( LPCXpresso 3.6.2 ) is "fully activated" based on the "welcome window" of Eclipe.
But download of the application code will display some "code limit 8k", and applications lower than 8K will download and run.
I already tried ( more than one time ) to uninstall and reinstall LPCXpresso with new activation license, same result.
Some of my collegues have the same problem on their PC.
What can you suggest ?
