CMSIS-DAP could not be found.

On Tuesday, I wrote and ran a couple of simple c programs learning the system. Wednesday I down loaded the drivers recommended on the bottom of page 18 of AN11517v.1.4.pdf trying to get the GUI to run. That eliminated the warning I had seen in the Devices list of my PC, but it also seems to have stopped my ability to find CMSIS-DAP. I have downloaded the LPCXpresso package at least two more times, and still cannot debug a program. What could I be doing wrong?

I found the problem. I was plugged into the wrong MicroUSB connector on the LPC1549 Development board. I had started out plugged into J5 but the AN11517v.1.4.pdf told me to plug into J3. I switched back to J5 and now I can compile and run my initial test program. Sorry for all the time it took to remember that I had made that change trying to get the GUI to work.

Should the above postings be removed to exposing any secrets in the output from my computer tests that could endanger my computer from hackers or reveal secrets?

An unbooted LPC-Link2 probe would show up as:
VID: 1FC9 PID: 000C (LPC based USB device).

Once a CMSIS-DAP probe has been DFU'd, you would see:
VID: 1FC9 PID: 0090 (CMSIS-DAP)

The usbdiags output shows neither of these. So, your LPC1549 board just doesn't show up, either as a DFU capable device or CMSIS-DAP probe. I presume you've tried switching USB ports by this time? Do you have another board to try?

To double check your jumper settings, the following jumper connection should apply to both Rev. B, and Rev. C boards for debug of the "on-board" LPC1549.

LPC1549 Xpresso v2 Rev. B, C
JP1 Open
JP2 1-2 should be connected for "on-board" target
JP3 Open

EDIT: If there's any chance the processor on the LPC-LInk2 circuit has been flashed (vs. always used as DFU), then you would need to short JP3 to force a DFU boot.

I am using the LPCXpresso1549 board. I have been running with LPCXpresso v7.9.2_493, which I believe uses link2 to call CMSIS-DAP for the debuging. I do not have a jumper on jp3. I did not remove that jumper, and I was able to debug on Tuesday. Should I put a jumper on jp3 and try again? Well I tried it, and CMSIS-DAP could not be found again, so I will try your other suggestions.

Please take a step back and first of all can you confirm what your actual target and debug probe are?

Are you using an LPCXpresso1549 board (and its built in LPC-Link2 debug probe), or are you using a different debug probe (for example a standalone LPC-Link2) and a different board?

If you are using an LPCXpresso1549 board, then please ensure that you have jumper fitted on JP3.

If you are using a standalone LPC-Link2 probe, then please ensure that you [u]do not[/u] have a jumper fitted on JP1.

Now unplug every USB device that you can from your PC, including your debug probe/target board.

Now open a DOS command prompt and run the command:

{install_dir}\lpcxpresso\bin\Scripts\usbdiags > diag1.txt

(where {install_dir} is your LPCXpresso 7.9.2 installation directory)

Now connect your debug probe/board and run the boot_link2 script

Now in the DOS command prompt run the command:

{install_dir}\lpcxpresso\bin\Scripts\usbdiags > diag2.txt

And post the diag1.txt and diag2.txt files that have been generated for us to look at.

Before attempting to run boot_link2.com
USB the port (COM7) driver is:

So I did not report that, because it did not change, so I thought the test failed.

Because I did not get a response I did some investigation on my own. I made a copy of boot_link2.cmd (so I did not mess it up) as Link2up.cmd and edited out the @echo off line. I ran that and this is the output which I thought might tell you something:

You didn't answer whether you found an obsolete UCOM driver installed? If the CMSIS-DAP probe is already booted, you'll get the same message. Reproduce the fail message after using the boot_link2.cmd script, then open an MS-DOS shell and run the usbdiags.cmd script found in the '<install>\lpcxpresso\bin\Scripts' folder. Paste the console output in your next response.

When I entered boot_link2, the system replied "Nothing to boot" but I can see boot_link2.cmd is in the directory, and typing it shows there are commands in the file. I am confused.

If you are using an LPC-Link2 (either standalone or the one built into an LPCXpresso1549 or similar board), then the most likely issue is this one:
