Im hardware developer and learn programming for myself.
My goal is intelligent MIDI things.

Would LPCXpresso work with another IDE (Keil, IAR, etc)?

Hi Sebastian,

if you look for an easy entry, I would suggest to start with LPCXpresso.
For 30 Euro you get everthing you need to compile & debug.

Also it's easy to install and a lot of code samples are available.

You can program with any compiler that supports Cortex-M3/M0 (depending on your chip). However, the LPC-Link debug adapter currently works only with LPCXpresso IDE, and it seems NXP/codered/EA do not plan for this to change. You can, however, use another debug adapter if it supports SWD.
