For the 18xx series, a USB FLASH Image Programmer exists. I don't find any information out there regarding a comparable utility for the 15xx series.

Thanks for clarifying this. Appropriate information is given in chapter 34.5 of the user manual. I didn't attend this until now, because I simply supposed that a comparable flasher tool would be present as is the case for the UART boot protocol (I refer to the mature Philips tool that does the job for LPC2xxx.

Regarding your answer: This is of limited value, because I want IAP. USB supports IAP-programming. And of course, this requires specific program code in the LPC. I found AN11555 as the way to get to embedding code into an application that initiates IAP sequences for USB.

Eventually, I could arrange for a specific keypad sequence (on the target product) that simply enters the bootloader vector.
This would allow the usage of the very attractive scheme of using d&d on Explorer.

Why not just boot the part into the USB mass storage ISP mode? (i.e. power your board up - or reset it - with ISP_0 low and ISP_1 high.)

Then you can just drag and drop your bin file onto the device using Windows Explorer.

HTH!
