Hi

I have a question about LPC1788FBD208 longevity. Is it recommended for new product designs with life cycle more than 10 years? if not what is the best replacement?

Regards

Ati

Hi Ati haj

LPC1788FBD208 was launched in Oct 2013. and it has 15years of longevity life. it has cortex M3 core. if you start new design, LPC4088FBD208 is the higher performance replacement which is based on Cortex M4 core.

Have a great day,
Jun Zhang

Thanks for your quick reply,

Are there sample project pack available for this like lpc1788? on Lpcxpresso or Mcuxpresso?

you can work with the project under LPCOpen, Keil, IAR.

I just check longevity for LPC4088FBD208 . it shows launched date DEC 2013 and 10 years as longevity. Does it mean it will be active product till 2023?

Longevity time for 1788 is longer than this (till 2028).

Actually where is the best reference to check longevity for NXP Microcontrollers?

Ati

Hi Ati,

You are right, alll LPC40xx is enrolled with 10 year longevity life. This is a market decision. After 10 years, we will evaluate if we need extend the life based on market.

Here is our official site to check longevity

Hi Zhang

Regarding the longevity for LPC1788 which longer still  do you suggest LPC4088 for new design?

Hi Ati,

I recommend LPC4088 because it integrates M4 core which has better performance than LPC1788.

Currently, we can't know if the longevity will be extended after 10 years for LPC4088. But if this factor is sensitive for you, LPC1788 is better.

Please make your decision based on your concern.
