LPC11C24 can unused port pins be set and cleared

I am using a LPC11C24 and was wondering if the unused port pins (PIO1_9 or PIO2_4 or PIO2_5 or PIO2_5) can still be set up as outputs an set or cleared and read back....wanting to use them as a bit of memory to enable or disable running secondary boot loader.

Hi Steve Stone

For the unused non-open-drain IO, it can be left unconnected if driven LOW and configured as GPIO output with pull-up disabled by software.

For the unused open-drain IO, it can be left unconnected if driven LOW and configured as GPIO output by software.
