But operating temperature and cost are major problems. Operating temperature range should be suitable for automotive applications. i.e -40 to +125 oC. We are not able find an alternate controller meeting all our specs.
But if you are just starting a new project, I would recommend that you consider using a newer Cortex-M based MCU rather than an old ARM7 based one though.
