Trying to set up Kinetis Design Studio with KSDK

I am going through the Document "Getting Started with Kinetis SDK (KSDK) " and in section 5.3, it is asking to build a Library Platform.   I navigate to <install_dir>/lib/ksdk_platform_lib/kds/<device_name> but it doesn't appear to cover the device I am working with:  The board is the TWR-KL25Z48M  and the device is MKL25Z128.  Windows Version: 2.0.0 Kinetis Design Studio and Version 1.1.0 KDSK.  The only options they have for KL are KL03Z4 and KL46Z4

Well, I installed KDSID version 3.0 and SDK version 1.2, linked them together (I thought) by going to install new software and pointing to Eclipse.  However, I do not see any mention of TWR-KL25Z48M under the board configuration tab, so I must be missing a step.

With "board configuration tab" do you mean from the New Project Wizard?

KSDK v1.2 does not come with direct support for TWR-KL25Z48M (example applications or board files), only for FRDM-KL25Z. Sorry for this inconvenience.

However the on-board MCU of TWR-KL25 is fully supported with KSDK v1.2, so in your case you can select the device "MKL25Z128xxx4" from KDS New Project Wizard.

Is there a list of what products will be included in the next releases?
What is the expected release schedule of KDS and KSDK, bi-annually, quarterly?
Will KDS and KSDK update using the eclipse update mechanism?

list of products included in next release is not known.

After the release you can see just what was released in the KSDK version at Kinetis SDK v1.1.0 Release Notes/Kinetis SDK v1.2.0 Release Notes.

KDS 3.0. is expected in the same days like KSDK 1.2.

Can I use eclipse->help->update to get the latest copies of both KDS and KSDS?

like David said. For new KDS version you must download new installation package Kinetis Design Studio Integrated Development |Freescale

and for new version of KSDK you should install from websites Software Development Kit for Kinetis MCUs|Freescale

The update Eclipse is only for Eclipse updates.

Hi Isaac,

No that is not the correct method to update KDS.  That will only check for Eclipse updates and you don't want to do that as a general rule.

You should Help->Install New Software...

Then click on the pulldown for the "Work with: field. Select the following:

Freescale KDS Update Site - http://freescale.com/lgfiles/updates/Eclipse/KDS

Currently the Kinetis SDK does not support the KL25 devices, you can find the list of supported devices on the next link:
