You have to update the micro-bootloader with a new version from P&E, see

Illustrated Step-by-Step Instructions: Updating the Freescale Freedom Board Firmware | MCU on Eclips... 

note that ideally you have a Windows 7 machine for this.

Thanks. I know about the steps explained in MCU on Eclipse, but I no longer use windows for these cases that bother me for 30 years; I prefer to exchange FRDM-KL25Z for a newer product that already starts with linux. Sorry for my position on this.
