I was trying to load the 1.14 app. It did not work from Windows even though I could see the file being moved to BOOTLOADER.
I had to do a copy from DOS prompt. Then it worked.

I think that you need to load the debugger (rather than the PEMicro FRDM-KL26Z Mass Storage App , which tends to be pre-installed in older kits ).
You ca get this from the P&E web page (click on the HTML link when the board appears as a hard drive), where it also eplains how to update it (just power the board with the reset button held down and drag and drop the new code to the disk).
I have attached the one that i use (may not be latest but works well).

This may be due to the BOOTLOADER on your board not supporting Windows 8.1 or MAX OS X [ some background here: µTasker USB-MSD Loader Mac OS X Compatibility ]. The usual method is to (temporarily) use a Win 7 machine to work aound the difficulty. Many newer BOOTLOADER versions are compatible, but these can't be exchanged by users as far as I know.
