Hi,

Yes, Indeed the next release of the KBOOT is the version 1.1 and the estimated date to be release is in middle December of this year. It will include support for K22 devices (new generation) and changes on the winupdater GUI with Windows 8 support.

Hope this information can help you.

Will there be the promised CAN and USB MSD support in KBOOT version 1.1?

Thanks,

Glenn

Hi,

I confirmed that with the developers and they told me that the support for CAN and USB MSD will NOT be present in the new KBOOT version.

I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.

Hope this information can help you.

Hi All

I don't know when the next version of KBOOT is planned for but since the V1.1 (in December 2014) will not have USB-MSD it is worth pointing out that KBOOT and USB-MSD is available in the uTasker serial loader, operational on most Freescale boards - including K22 - today and can be built with CW, KDS, IAR, Keil, Atollic, Rowley, CooCox, standalone GCC or VisualStudio.

I have attached a binary for the FRDM-K22F as example with composite configuration which will show up as both Kinetis Loader (HID for KBOOT application loading) and also as USB-MSD upload disk (Windows 8.1 conform). There is also a KBOOT serial loader on the UART.

uTaskerV1.4_FRDM-K22F.zip (attached) contains the loader binary and also a test application for the board that can be dropped onto the hard drive that appears.Simply hold down SW2 at reset to get back into the loader.

Furthermore, the serial loader has a CAN driver included so if anyone is desparate for CAN loading functionality it is possible (with some additional work to add the required loading protocol) to add this as a CAN task in the existing serial loader framework. Presumably the KBOOT PC application won't have this support in it either at the moment but it could be used if there is a CAN system in place that needs to be supported. SD card loading is also possible if an SD socket is added to the board, but I disabled this to keep the binary small and because I don't expect the socket to be available for most people anyway. (It is a shame that the socket is left off on this Freedom board...)

Regards

Mark

Hi

Note that I have also verified the KBOOT + MSD-USB on the (newish) KL43 - see FRDM-KL43Z - Boot Loader and Application reference

Hello Riccardo

I have heard that there will be an update some time in December.

In case you need KBOOT HID and/or UART mode today this is included in the uTasker serial loader (also on FRDM-K22F and TWR-K22F120M) - see also https://community.freescale.com/message/456818#456818
