I cannot update or use the bootloader on the dev. board FRDM-KE02Z40M

Plugged on the PC (Win10) USB port, board detected as BOOTLOADER (F:)

The HTM files are present...

The led's board flashes 8 times and iddle 2 seconds (bootloader error ?)

Unplug, press reset, plug, load: the latest BOOTUPDATEAPP_Pemicro_v111.SDA

Unplug, re-plug, green led still flashing 8x, check SDA_INFO.HTM no update showing, still loader V 1.10 and not 1.11...

load now : MSD-DEBUG-FRDM-KE02Z_Pemicro_v118.SDA

Unplug USB, re-plug still nothing happening, check SDA_INFO.HTM no update showing, still App. Version 0

Why I cannot update anything via Open SDA.

Is it possible to re-flash via J-LINK in this case can I have the correct bootloader Firmware, please

Thank you

The easiest way would be to use a Windows 7 machine to make the update.

The problem is Windows 10 which interferes with the bootloader on your board.

For the list of error codes, see https://mcuoneclipse.com/2016/08/01/bricking_and_recovering_opensda_boards_in_windows_8_and_10/

I did document steps how to circumvent the issue, see for example https://mcuoneclipse.com/2018/04/10/recovering-opensda-boards-with-windows-10/

However, it seems that that might not work on every Win10 machine. So again: simplest and easiest way would be to have a Win7 machine (this is why I keep an old notebook in the shelf) or have a bootable memory stick with Win7.

The other point to consider: you have to extract the OpenSDA files from the zip to your disk first (do not drag&drop from within the explorer internal-extracted view: really unzip on your disk first).

No, that bootloader on the K20 is unfortunately secured and locked, you cannot change it (later OpenSDA versions, e.g. v2.0 are open and you can change it, see https://mcuoneclipse.com/2016/06/26/how-to-recover-the-opensda-v2-x-bootloader/).

I hope this helps,

Erich

Thank you very much for your quick answer.

K20 is unfortunately secured and lockedthat means I cannot flash (jtag) the open SDA V2 or anything else ?

To summarise, I needed to have a quick ''hands on'' on the KE02, but wasted half a day and 15 euros on a useless piece of kit, mind still on sale...

You live and learn as they say...

Thank you again for your help

Soldered a J-LINK Segger 2x5 pins header and use that fine, thank you KEIL/Segger
