Do I need TWR-SER board to run SPO2 demo with K53 MCU?

I have already purchased K53N512 MCU board and MED-SPO2 pulse oximeter dev kit.   Do I also need TWR-SER in order to run the SPO2 demo as suggested in AN4327?  It seems strange because K53 board already has a USB port for IAR debugging and serial communication?

Hi John,

Yes, you will need the TWR-SER board to run the MED-SPO2 demo since the demo uses the TWR-SER USB port to communicate with the GUI. The OSBDM debug port in the K53 board is used to download the program to the MCU using IAR and after this you will have to connect the TWR-SER to the host computer.

You can find more information on the following link:

Hope it helps!
