Gui-guider 2.0.1 Ubuntu error

Opening a very simple project in GUI-Guider 2.0.1 (where it was created) in Ubuntu 26.04 LTS gives an error:

ERROR:/__w/sharp/sharp/node_modules/@img/sharp-libvips-dev/include/vips/VImage8.h:134:vips::VObject& vips::VObject::operator=(const vips::VObject&): assertion failed: (!a.vobject || VIPS_IS_OBJECT(a.vobject))
Bail out! ERROR:/__w/sharp/sharp/node_modules/@img/sharp-libvips-dev/include/vips/VImage8.h:134:vips::VObject& vips::VObject::operator=(const vips::VObject&): assertion failed: (!a.vobject || VIPS_IS_OBJECT(a.vobject))

Any workaround to this?

Also, Ninja framework needs to be manually installed.

As mentioned on the System Requirements section of the GUI Guider page, or the installation process on the Getting started — GUI Guider Documentation page, GUI Guider 2.0.1 was developed for Ubuntu 24.04, which might explain why you see errors as soon as you open a simple project (as well as difficulties installing the ninja framework) on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. Did you encounter any warning or error messages during the installation process? If possible, try running this tool on 24.04.

I only checked the Getting started page where under Host OS it states "Ubuntu 24.04 or later". Anyway, I was able to create a very simple project, the problem arose when I wanted to add an image to the resource.

When I remove the folder resources I can again open the project. It seems to be ok, but once in a while it stops again with the same message.

Hi @poldo,

It's likely due to some incompatibility issue that might be causing an error with sharp, which is why you see that error description when adding image resources. If possible, try using Ubuntu 24.04, since GUI Guider has been proven to work with this LTS even when using image resources.

Downgrading is not possible, but I solved the incompatibilty running GUI-Guider in a distrobox Ubuntu 24.04 container. Some manual libraries and programs installation was necessary, but it looks like it's working!
