Hi @yjy, 

The only error I can see your logs is "Additional Notes: ERROR - Error writing LaunchAnywhere components (Access Denied)". Did you try running the installer with elevated rights ?

Another thing I would check is the file integrity, could you re-download the installer ?

yeah,I have tried to run 'chmod +x ./freemaster.bin' before installing, and i have tried 'sudo chmod 777 ./freemaster,bin' ,but it also doesn't work.and the terminal noted that ./FMASTERL13(2).bin: line 3652: hostname: command not found when I tried to install

Does the installer prompt you to introduce your user password for sudo ? (Even if your user is in the sudo group the installer may need to execute internal commands as root).

Additional thing to try is to set the following environment variable before running the installer:

export LAX_DEBUG=true

Does it fail if you keep FreeMASTER Lite selected with Java 17 ? the same way it does with Java 22 ?

I'm wondering whether there is any issue with Java version or some step specific to FreeMASTER Lite component installation.

yeah , I unchecked the lite and it didn't roll back, however I can't see any executable files .
When I was installing, I referred that ''https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/could-not-find-or-load-main-class-comzeroglaxlax-when-trying-insta...'' and it worked.

Finally, I found the package of `freemaster debug tool` instead of the freemaster lite, but when I am installing FMASTERSW32.bin, it displayed that
Error: Could not find or load main class com.zerog.lax.LAX
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.zerog.lax.LAX

Unfortunately, FreeMASTER (classic desktop tool) is available only on Windows platform. FMASTERSW32.bin is the name that we used in older releases but switched to FMASTERL13.bin to avoid confusion.

  • FreeMASTER (I will call it "classic") - is a windows native 32 bit application.
    At this point there is no 1 to 1 alternative for other OSs.
  • FreeMASTER Lite - is a stripped down version of FreeMASTER classic. Considering FreeMASTER "classic" is bound to Windows x86, the Lite version tries to bring the core functionality to Linux platform + x64 support.

At high level, FreeMASTER Lite includes:

  1. Communication library - it implements FreeMASTER's low level communication protocol (the one that is used to exchange the data between the board and the PC)
  2. Node.js middleware - a service like application (without native GUI) that allows external clients to consume the low level communication protocol via higher level JSON-RPC API (exposed via WebSockets)

From the old logs I noticed that "LaunchAnyWhere" step comes around the license validation. Does your installation reaches the license validation step ? Does a popup window show up after you press the Install button ?

Also, what Linux distribution are you using ? (could be a compatibility issue)

firstly, I don't know the vcredist_x86.exe or anythings in linux, and then the freemaster lite don't have any offline button

Update: I create an ArchLinux VM trying to match your configuration:

I managed to reproduce your issue by running the installer with a user that is not part of sudo group:

Next, I ran it with a user (with sudo privileges) and the installation succeeded:Capture.PNG

 

 

I assume that it is a permission/access rights issue in you case as well.
