Was the Viewtool Ginkgo support added since this message?  I recently acquired one and wondered if FreeMaster would be a good tool for me.

Hello @RufusVS,

yes FreeMASTER 3.2 does support the Viewtool Ginkgo interface. There is no support for Lawicel device yet though.

Regards,
Michal

Hello,

unfortunately, support of this vendor is not in our plans for 2020. But we will consider it for future updates.

Best regards,

Michal

Dear Luca,

a general COM+ interface needed when designing a custom FreeMASTER communication plug-in is available in the FreeMASTER 3.0 installation in "FreeMASTER\userdev\include\mcbcom_i.idl" file. Unfortunately we do not provide a source code examples or any detailed guide how to create the plug-ins. So far, there were no interest from users to do so.

I would recommend you to use one of supported CAN interfaces:

  • IXXAT: USB-to-CAN and other compatible devices.
  • Vector: VCAN and other compatible devices.
  • National Instruments: NI-CAN and other compatible devices.
  • Kvaser: Kvaser Leaf Pro HS v2 and other compatible devices.
  • PEAK-System: PCAN-USB and other PCANBasic compatible devices.
  • GLinker: USB-CAN GY8507 and other compatible devices.
  • ZLG: USBCAN-II and other compatible devices.
  • Intrepid Control Systems: ValueCAN and other compatible devices.

If it helps, we have also recently added a support for Viewtool Ginkgo USB-CAN interface. It is not officially released yet, but I can share a prototype with you.

We will consider adding the Lawicel device support by end of 2020.

Regards,

Michal
