I found this picture which you post in "32-Bit Microcontrollers and Porcessors Quarter 2, 2006 SG1001Q22006 Rev 0", this is for product "MC68331", "MC68332", "MC68336", "MC68376", can this product number system rule apply to "MC68EN360CAI25L"?

Is "MC68EN360CAI25L" a industrial grade chip? The meaning of "EN" and "I" is not clearly indicated in this image.

Ethernet is not implemented in my application.

There is no direct replacement (pin to pin compatible or no hardware/software change) from MC68360CRC25L to MC68EN360CAI25L, however, I plan make a PCB to to convert the MC68360CRC25L package into an LQFP240 footprint suitable for soldering the MC68EN360CAI25L, can this work?

Just curious, why still consider to use so old product MC68360CRC25L as replacement? Why not using new product family(ARM Cortex M series based MCU)  with more powerful features?

There is an old product whose MCU model is MC68EN360CAI25L, with only executable files but no source code.

And as a newcomer in the company, besides me, no one knows what specific functions and logic the old product has implemented using MC68EN360CAI25L. If a new MCU is applied, Maybe developing from scratch would be a huge undertaking.

Is there one new MCU that is compatible with MC68EN360?

Hello,

Unfortunately, there is no new MCU product compatible with MC68EN360CAI25L chip. While, NXP new ARM Cortex-M based MCU products have complete ecosystem (Software/Hardware) to make sure customer application development easily. From ROI(return on investment) aspect, rather than tinkering an old product system, it would be better to design with a new platform.

About MC68EN360CAI25L replacement, unfortunately, there has no direct replacement (pin to pin compatible or no hardware/software change).

About MC68360CRC25L as MC68EN360CAI25L  replacement, there still with below product difference:

The MC68EN360 is the Ethernet version of the MC68360. The MC68EN360 is a superset of the MC68360. The Ethernet is available only on the MC68EN360.
