MCF52235 datasheet note 3 on page 21 stated that "The use of an external PHY limits ADC, interrupt, and QSPI functionality. It also disables the UART0/1 and timer pins." I plan to use the external PHY on my design, I would like to make sure those pins/bits within those limited functions which are NOT mapped to the Ethernet internal signals(FEC_*) still available as user's I/Os?

Thanks!

Michael

Hi,

Yes, you can disable the internal PHY and connect an external PHY. As the manual mentioned when using an external PHY, some pins that are multiplexed with the MII are no longer usable. datasheet shows the signals used for an external interface.
