Coldfire maximum temperature

Looking at the coldfire chips, the max. temperature seams to be 85C (ambient) I could not find any chips rated for 125C or at least 105C.

What are the specs for the junction temperature? Can I run the the chips slower, to meet the junction temp spec at higher ambient temp?

I need to run a software application for coldfire chips at 105C.

regards

Hi Peter,

A warm welcome to the Freescale forums.

We need to be careful here. Typically the Coldfire parts are specified to ambient +85 degrees. Sometimes we specifiy the maximum junction temperature, too. For the part I just looked at MCF52110, we specify this to be 105 degrees, for example. We provide thermal charactersitcs for the part, and so you can work out the heat dissipation for the device, to get to a calculated maximum operating temperature for the device. Obviously, if the max junction temp is 105 degrees, you won't be able to operate at ambient 105 degrees.

Which part are you interested in?

Maybe a power architecture part MPC55xx is more suitable for higher temp designs?
