Coldfire M5329EVB Audio Crackling

Hi!

I was wondering if anyone was experiencing crackling sounds when playing audio using the OSS APIs on Coldfire M5329EVB when running a Linux kernel 2.6.16.1-uc0. I can hear the target audio output behind the crackling. I tried the mp3play program that comes with uclinux.

Is OSS the correct way of accessing the audio? Is there a better way of accessing the audio device?

Hi,

I don't know if this helps, but I was as at FTF Orlando and attended a session on building an MP3 player using the 5249. It was demostrated that the standard Linux mp3player doesn't work well because it is not optimized for the Coldfire. Freescale made an updated player to make use of the MAC/EMAC. It sounded very nice.
