The old version of the MCF52233 chip had a problem with the Auto Negotiates. I have now received new samples of the chip 1/3-2007. On an old switch 10/100Mbit the Auto Negotiates is working fine, but when I am using a 1Gbit switch I still have problem!
The new version with auto negotiation fixed is not available yet. I suspect that the devices you have are working with the 10/100 switch because of device to device variations. Some devices may actually work but some will not. The 1Gbit switch is more stringent than the other switch, therefore the current version of the device is less likely to work. The 1Gbit switch may be sending shorter link pulses and the device is not able to recognize them. We are addressing this problem and expect the fixed version to be available later this year.
