512K in V2 single chips?

Hi poople

We have a 200K design running in a single chips 5213.We need to implement new features wich will not fit into 256K.What is the next Freescale solution for this design?We have a strong cost competition problem.At a glance a V2 512K single chip would be the very best for it.I took a look into external memory devices, but the cost envolved in power and memories arrangement are too high for this design.The design is entirely based on CodeWarrior 6.4, wich we would like to keep.

Hi Ricardo,

  Freescale also offers the MCF5216 which is very similar to the 5213.  It has 512K flash.  Also, there is the 5282 which has an 80Mhz option plus an Ethernet controller.

I took a loot at 5216 /5282 specs and price.

In fact it is a nice solution, but the SDRAM controller,250 pins BGA pack, etc seems to make it a not cost effective solution as a pure 5213 (single chip) with 512K of memory.

The price increase too much when entering in this kind of "not single chips" chips.

Has Freescale a roadmap for devices like 5213 wich comprise bigger memories...?

Hi Ricardo,

  Yes, Freescale is working on a new ColdFire V2 device with 512k flash that is scheduled to sample to alpha customers in the summer of 2008.

Hi Mac,

Same problem with running short of code space but on the MCF52233 part.

We are looking for a replacement for the MCF52233 but with 512K Flash so any
draft documentation on this NEW Coldfire V2  so we can compare features would be appreciated.
I heard something about code named "Striker" is this true?
