is the firmware that resides in the EVK board when you purchase it available as source ?

I would prefer to start my project with a software that is already working and using some peripherals

Thanks for the quick answer. I already have this library, but it is split into multiple separate projects whereas the software that runs on the board seems to be one big app that simultaneously runs all the various options. is there a project containing exactly the software that's on the EVK ?

No. The pre-installed sample code may not always same.So please check the demos in the EVK sample code folder based on your requirement.
