Code Warrior support for GR8A

Hi,
My new project uses the 68HC908GR8A processor. I upgraded Code Warrior to the latest version 5.0 (Code Warrior IDE version 5.7.0), hoping it would support the new processor. I see the GR16A, GR32A, and GR8, but do not see the GR8A. Are there any plans to support the GR8A in the near future? If not, is there a workaround, like using the GR16A with slight modification?

Hi Gad,

If you can select MC68HC908GZ8 that will be exactly the same as GR8A.

Can you ? I don't use CW08 5.0 yet.

Thanks for the information - I can select the GZ8. It looks fairly similar to the GR8A, but memory sizes and some peripherals are different. Is it better to use the GZ8 than the GR8?

Hey Gad,

The GR8 will be a low speed version of the GR8A:

 - GR8 typically for 32kHz quartz

 - GR8A for above 1MHz. (like GZ)

If you work by hand, you can use any because register map is similar/compatible.
May be it could create some difficulties with Processor Expert because it would check the range of multipliers and all.

You're right about the differences GR doesn't have an msCAN module as on GZ.

Anyway, I'm surprised CW doesn't include it.
