Updating CW MCU 10.x (Eclipse)

When is it necessary to download the Codewarrior MCU 10.5 (Eclipse) updates (like com.freescale.mcu10_5.PEX_update.v1_0_0.zip) vs letting the IDE find updates and install them?  There are currently 9 updates shown on the website CodeWarrior for MCU 10.5 Updates but the IDE finds at least 15 when a new install does Check for Updates.  At least some of the updates are duplicated between the two methods.

the updates arrangement may different for these two methods but . both of them includes all the available CW10.5 updates
