Programming HC16

I am looking for software to program an HC16 and I see that codewarrior does not make one for HC16 so I am trying to find a close second. Thanks!

Hi Austin Hamman 

You are right CodeWarrior doesn't support HC16 device anymore.

To work with HC16, I suggest 3rd partner's.for example P&E.

IDE:

WINIDE16Z | 68HC16 Windows Integrated Development Environment | PEmicro 

Programmer:

PROG16Z | 68HC16 Flash/EEPROM Programmer Software | PEmicro

Thank you for the answer! Just one more question, will this program allow me to debug the current software on any given HC16? Beings that it is not protected?

Hi,

If your HC16 device is already burned image. I don't think you can "debug" existing on-chip image, because there is no "debug information" burned to onchip flash. What was burned to flash is a kind of optimized binary file.

If the on-chip code is secured code (there is register set flash secure feature), user can't view on chip code with any programmer. otherwise, if the code is not secured, user can view/upload the on chip code from flash. This depends on how the onchip code designed.
