Hello,

We are using MPC870 processor on our board, and we are having code warrior USB TAP (on its backside label 900-75515 Rev.F & COP are printed). We have couple of queries here..

1) Hope this USB TAP should support our processor MPC870. Kindly confirm

2) We need to know that what is the development software we need to install in our machine.

Please support ASAP.

Thanks,

Pradeep. S

Please refer to

https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/application-note/AN2387.pdf

Please refer to section "DPI Connector Information" in https://www.nxp.com.cn/docs/en/user-guide/CWH-UTP-UG.pdf.

I attach the schematic for the USB tap. Look for J4 (10 pins header) on page 6.

Hi,

Thanks for guiding and supporting us here.

We have managed to program using CW-USB TAP programmer for accessing MPC870 and flashing our device. Thanks a lot for sharing the wiring diagram and schematics. we have also made this wiring connection and found it is working on CW-USB-TAP.

Thanks,

Pradeep. S

Please refer to the following USB TAP for PowerQUICC I

https://www.nxp.com/design/software/development-software/codewarrior-development-tools/codewarrior-l...

The CodeWarrior USB TAP DPI probe has a 10-pin connector which automatically
supports target signal levels from 1.8V to 3.3V.

You need to install CodeWarrior DS for Power Architecture 8.8.

Thank you for guiding me here. so, my understanding is that we can't use JTAG/COP based USB TAP emulator for Power Quicc-I MPC870 processor.

And luckily we are also having Code warrior TAP emulator hardware with us as shown in below link. So, we are planning to use this, instead of the USB TAP emulator.

Also from the above link, we found that our device Power Quicc I (MPC870) can be supported by this emulator. But we are seeing a confusion regarding its probe tips. From the above link, it is shown that the probe tip CWH-CTP-COP-YE can be used for Power Quicc series Processors as shown in below snap.

Probe tip.jpg

But when I read the product summary page of the CWH-CTP-COP-YE probe tip, our Power Quicc-I MPC870 processor is not listed under supported devices! (pls check the link, https://www.nxp.com/products/processors-and-microcontrollers/power-architecture/qoriq-communication-...)

So now I have a code warrior TAP, but unable to find a suitable probe tip. Please help me how can I go forward with this Code warrior TAP emulator.

If no Probe tips are available, please help us by telling which of the following connection will work for CW_TAP here, whether JTAG/COP or DPI. we will try to make our own cable..

Thanks

Pradeep. S
