CodeWarrior V5.7 MCF5282 Cyclone Max Ethernet Connection PEMicroProtocolPlugin Error

Hi there,

I am having problems connecting to my cyclone max, via Ethernet or USB, through CodeWarrior V5.7.  The error returned is  "PEMicroProtocolPlugin: Please select a port number within valid range in the remote connection preference panel." (first attached image).  I have not been able to find out what this message means yet in any FAQ, user manuals or help files.  If i run the hardware diagnostics I get the second attached error message. If I try and "Run" I get the third error message.  Does anybody know of this error message please? I can however connect using PEMicro's Cyclone Pro Image Manager.  I have also managed to update the firmware from 7.42 to 7.62 successfully, so it appears to be a problem with the integration into CodeWarrior.  I have raised a support ticked with PEMicro, however I thought it was worth an ask to see if anyone else has experienced this problem please?

Many Thanks for reading and any suggestions...

James

Hi,

This issue has now been resolved by PE Micro Support:

"It sounds like this customer has various network cards.
By default, I think the first network connection (Local Network Connection 1) is used to connect to PEMicro devices.  There is a utility that can be used to change this globally.
I have attached the program to this support request.
In this program, you can specify the network card to use by typing in its IP address (in this case, probably 169.254.0.99) and see if that allows you to connect to the Cyclone. You may also want to try disabling all other network connections except for the one that the cyclone is connected to.
This should ensure that CodeWarrior uses only that network connection when attempting to connect to the Cyclone."

I used the IP setup utility and now it works!

Thanks

James

Have you looked at the Remote Connection settings panel? It's located at Edit > Settings > Remote Settings, although I'm doing this from memory because I don't have that particular toolset handy.

Hi Tom,

Yes i've been in there looking, but for the TCI/IP setting there is only the ip address, which i have set the same as the cyclone max, and the speed.  This was working before and i got the project out of source control so the settings should be correct.

Thanks

Source control can sometimes mangle things in ways not obvious.

Try this: build a simple project in CodeWarrior, and see if it connects successfully to the target. If it works, then source control did something to the project settings. If not, then it can be eliminated as a culprint. If this was working before, what has changed on the system?
