I am thinking of getting either zstar2 or zstar 3 demo board.
Whats the difference between them?
Zstar2 includes both the sensor and the wireless transceiver, correct?

Hi,

all ZSTAR(1), ZSTAR2 and ZSTAR3 sensor boards do always have accelerometer sensor, MCU and the wireless transceiver. The only difference is that:

ZSTAR has MMA7260Q sensor, MC9S08QG8 MCU and MC1319x wireless chip

ZSTAR2 is almost identical, just different sensor used - MMA7360L

the latest development ZSTAR3 combined MCU + wireless MC1321x family chip
and the two options for the sensor:
  • MMA7361L analog or
  • MMA7456L digital  accelerometer

So far, just one type of the USB stick (with HC908JW32) is used to connect any of these sensors. RD3172MMA7456L_SW and accompanying firmware allow multiple sensors with one USB stick.
