Have used 705 and 908 micros many times in the past, and just now starting my first board using both in-system-programming and S08 micros. It's an update of a 908 board and everything is written in assembly. I've just discovered that PORT A5 is also IRQ and RESET. I've used the BIH and BIL instruction frequently in the code and I'd rather not change it if I don't have to. Sharing pins looks messy. So... does the reset pin *have* to be connected to the BDM connector and the programmer or will the programmer set the BDFR bit and do a reset like that.

Hi

Yes, the programmer can do the BDRF without the reset pin, just you need to do a power cycle (turn off and turn on the device).

I hope this will help you.
