New to MC68HC11

Hi all

    I am new to Motorola products , I have more than 5 years experience with PIC microcontrollers ,and now it is the time to try other microcontrollers , I use assembly language to program my chips . I have checked the datasheets of MC68HC11 and now I am ready to write my first code to flash a led . But I could not find a compliler to compile my assembly source to hex (S19) to down load to my chip , could anyone guide me to the link where I can download the compiler ?

Edit: For example in microchip there is MPLAB, is there anything similar to MPLAB for motorola microcontrollers ?

ASPiSYS has all of the old utilities for the HC11 - go to http://www.aspisys.com/asm11.htm and you will find the latest version (1.84b) of ASM11 as well as some other tools.

Good for you to make use of the HC11 boards - newer isn't always better.

ASSAD, I had been working long time with HC11. I have somewhere AS11, Buffalo, RS232 communication soft, many usefull assembler programms- different drivers.  But al in DOS. If you have interest, pls contact  to metero(at)abv(dot)bg.  Please, place in subject " hc11"  to ensure that it's not spam.

After PIC's you can find HC11 very strange- but it's much friendly and easyer. I could explain you   " how to" for the main things.

Hello ASSAAD,

As you have mentioned Motorola and the HC11 I presume you have access to some old HC11 board or something. Motorola split their semiconductor business off as Freescale some years ago and the HC11 has been basically a dead product for many years.
Unless you have a specific need to use this obsolete device I would suggest you look at something current from the top end of the 8-bit S08 range or something from the HCS12 range.

      Infact I have about 500 old board , and I want to use their microcontrollers (HC11 ) rather than send them to crash , do you advice something ?

Welcome Assaad,

You should search this forum for answers to your questions first and you will probably find the answers to just about all of them.

But I'm pretty sure what you are looking for is CodeWarrior. If you go to the Freescale website you can download CodeWarrior the datasheets and reference manuals for the Freescale (Motorola) MCU's.
