Hey everyone,
I’m working on a small school project with buttons, LEDs, and a few sensors. I came across the MC9S08PA8VLC and thought it might be a good pick since it’s an 8-bit MCU with built-in ADC and communication options.
But I’m still pretty new to this stuff, so I’m not sure. Has anyone here used this chip before? Is it beginner-friendly? I’m also wondering if I need an external crystal or if the internal clock is enough.
Right now, I’m trying to figure out why my inputs are acting weird, maybe I messed up the wiring, or maybe the MCU just isn’t set up right. Any advice or setup tips would really help!
Hi @Jordan1x,
The MC9S08PA8VLC includes an Internal Clock Source (ICS) module, which can provide the internal reference clock as a source for the MCU system clock.
For more details, please refer to Section 8.2 Internal Clock Source (ICS) and Section 1.3 System clock distribution in the MC9S08PA16 Reference Manual.
Also, could you please clarify what you mean when you mention that the inputs are "acting weird"?
It would be helpful if you could share the input connections and a description or capture of how the input signals are behaving.
Best Regards,
Pablo
