I have just started to use the s08D(Z) Family as an alternative to the HC08GZ for CAN. The DZ (not the HC08GZ) is essentially the same as the DV. You have to add updates for Codewarrior (look for something like S08Dx on the update site...or check for updates with Codewarrior) which will get you standard compiler support and header/library files for the microcontrollers. Processor Expert/Device Initialization doesn't seem to be supported yet (as of 2007-1-20). I am not sure what else is missing. I am using the Demo DZ60 board (DEMO9S08DZ60) and have a C version of the blinking led working using Codewarrior (with the updates). The Demo board only comes with an asm example, so there's no learning by example to be had.
