CAN & USB?

We are using the 9s08DZ60 in a recreational vehicle application utilizing the CAN bus.  We would like to add USB capability to retrieve diagnostics to a notebook PC but I do not see a flavor of the 9s08 that has both USB and CAN.  One possible solution I see is a company called FTDI that makes a USB - RS232 solution.  Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Hello,

You could make use a "standard" off-the-shelf RS232 to USB adaptor lead. This lead might incorporate the FTDI device, or another similar USB device.

That would certainly work, but I don't want my customers to have to buy extra hardware.

Does it have to be automotive chip? Have a look at MCF51JM. Unfortunately MSCAN is present only in Coldfire JM, not in S08 JM.
