Hello NXP Community, I'm currently working on building a custom desktop environment for the i.MX 8M Plus DevKit. I've encountered several challenges that I'm hoping the community can help me resolve. My current situation: - I understand that the i.MX 8M Plus DevKit officially uses XWayland - When building my custom image, I'm experiencing X11 compatibility issues - I've tried using imx-image-full, but it only provides a terminal and QT examples without a proper desktop environment (no icons, file manager, etc.) - I've attempted to implement XFCE and GNOME but encountered compatibility issues with X11/Wayland.
What I'm looking to achieve:
-A complete desktop environment with icons, file manager, and standard desktop applications - Clear understanding of whether I should be using X11 or Wayland as the base
- Resolution of the compatibility issues I'm facing.
Could someone please provide guidance on:
1. The recommended approach for building a full desktop environment for this specific hardware.
2. A roadmap or workflow to properly implement X11 or Wayland compatibility
3. Any specific configurations or packages needed to resolve these compatibility issues
Thank you in advance for your assistance. Any examples, documentation links, or step-by-step guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Haris Islam
