Hello

I am trying to find out whether iMXRT1182 processor will support yocto Linux. I am developing a project which requires OS support. Can anyone help me out in this. How can i get started with iMXRT1182 MCU.

Good day,

The RT processors support a number of OS's:

- Zephyr  (which was created/modelled after Linux if I recall)

- FreeRTOS

- uTasker

- Nuttx (https://nuttx.apache.org/)

There are probably others, but these are a few that come to mind.

Cheers,

Sam

Hello, my name is Pavel, and I will be supporting your case, however the RT1180 is a Cross MCU and does not have support for OS, if you want to use a Linux system, I recommend review the IMX6 or IMX8.

i.MX 8 Series Applications Processors | Arm® Cortex®-A72/A53/A35/M4 cores | NXP Semiconductors

i.MX 6 Series Applications Processors | Multicore Arm Cortex-A7/A9/M4 | NXP Semiconductors

Best regards,
Pavel

Hello Pavel Hernandez, Thank you for your response.
Well it means i wont be able to have any os into iMXRT series of MCU. Then how these MCU's are setup. it it only with bare metal or it can support RTOS too?

Hello, yes this can be programed as bare metal or using the HAL library from NXP available on the examples SDK and yes is compatible with RTOS.

Best regards,
Pavel
