RT1050 EVKB QSPI Flash XIP Failed (AN12183)

Hi,

I have both EVKA and EVKB of rt1050.

Our rt1050-based product need to use QSPI flash instead of hyper flash, so we are studying it.

I have followed all step of doc: AN12183, but I got different results below.

[EVKA: QSPI XIP Succeed]

According to AN12183,

(1) I removed the hyper flash and welded 0 ohm resistor from R153 to R158

(2) I updated FW of CMSIS-DAP (for QSPI NOR Flash).

(3) I changed flash setting code according to AN12183SW.zip and use IAR to run debug in XIP mode

The result is successful. System runs in XIP mode.

But when I used EVKB, I got failed result!!

[EVKB: QSPI XIP Failed]

According to AN12183,

(1) I don't need to remove hyper flash. I removed R356,R361~R366 and welded 0 ohm from R153 to R158.

(2) I updated FW of CMSIS-DAP (for QSPI NOR Flash).

(3) I changed flash setting code according to AN12183SW.zip and use IAR to run debug in XIP mode

The result is failed......

(4) SDK version: 2.4.0

We all knew that rt1050-A0 and EVKA were deprecated, so we need your help to solve the QSPI problem in EVKB ! Thanks!

Hi igor,

We solved this issue 5mins ago.

I must apologize first, the reason is that our hardware engineer add two 0 ohm resister R358 and R359, which are incorrect, so QSPI flash can't run.

After remove R358 and R359, system can run on QSPI now.

please check differencies between EVKA and EVKB boards and software used for them

Hi Yi-Yuan, have you considered lower-cost Octal devices rather than switching to a Quad and reducing your XiP performance?
